Installing Indian Languages Font on Android Devices

Installing Indian Languages Font on Android Devices

Now in many android devices (read budget phones / tablets), Indian languages are ignored, such devices don’t support Indian languages, so if you open any website which has content in Indian language then you will see blocks instead of content.

To tackle this we can have a work around as described below to sort out the problem.

However pre-condition is that your device should be rooted, if you have any query about rooting, refer other posts under Dr Android Tab, or put your question in comment section.

  • Download Indian Fonts , Unzip the file, copy the fonts to your SD card.
  • Install ES File explorer to your device from Google Play
  • Install Font Installer software from Google Play
  • Open ES File Explorer – Go to settings, Enable Root Explorer and Mount System as RW.
  • Copy the file from SD Card root and Paste it to /System/Fonts
  • Now from Font Installer take back up of the existing fonts so that if new Indian fonts you don’t like, then you can restore old font settings.
  • Now from Font Installer open path /System/Fonts, and Install “droidindia.ttf”
  • Reboot the device.
We are done, Open any regional website and check. Also note that droidindia will also comfortably display English so don’t worry.

Now you must have gone thro many blogs where you will find the procedure but you will not get the fonts. I also faced many problem so I uploaded the font to rapidshare and sharing the post.
