Google sells Motorola to Lenovo- Update

Hello Readers!

As we are gearing up for launch of Moto G in India, Google announced that it is selling Motorola to Lenovo for $2.9 billion.

Google has bought Motorola some two years ago for hefty $ 12.5 billion. Though Google has sold Motorola to Lenovo, it will keep most of the Motorola's patents with it. Google has said that the smartphone market was "super competitive" and Motorola would "be better served by Lenovo".

The chairman and CEO of Lenovo Yang Yuanqing said: “We are confident that we can bring together the best of both companies to deliver products customers will love and a strong, growing business. Lenovo has a proven track record of successfully embracing and strengthening great brands – as we did with IBM’s Think brand – and smoothly and efficiently integrating companies around-the-world. I am confident we will be successful with this process, and that our companies will not only maintain our current momentum in the market, but also build a strong foundation for the future.”

Now with this news we thought that the Moto G release  will get delayed but that is not the case. This Motorola sale is not going to impact Moto G India release as per the news in Times Of India.

We are not sure if the handsets released by Motorola (Like Moto X, Moto G) will get future android updates or not; but let's hope for the best!

Update: We saw a post from VP of Motorola mobility Punit Soni on Google+ which says that this deal will not affect Moto X and Moto G. He says that he and his team is working hard on providing updates/ new features to released handsets.

One more good news is that he was on flight to launch Moto G in India :-)
